Connecting research and industry

Each year the Society holds the CTBUH Korea Conference, symposia, seminars and the general assembly, sharing the latest technology, policy, design and construction cases in tall buildings and vertical urbanism. We also run events on building safety, urban regeneration, sustainability and smart cities, contributing to the Korean construction industry.

As a founding member of the China-Japan-Korea Tall Building Forum (CJK Forum), the Society has sustained international exchange for twelve years. We host the forum in Korea and take part in overseas editions, sharing research and expanding joint studies and networks.

The Society publishes the International Journal of High-Rise Buildings (IJHRB), indexed in SCOPUS since 2018. Built on international peer review, it delivers research in tall buildings and urbanism to readers worldwide, and we continue to raise its quality.

Through agreements (MOU) with companies, research institutes and professional bodies, the Society pursues joint research, technology development, education and academic events, and carries out cooperative projects for advancing and applying building technology.

To train specialists in tall buildings and vertical urbanism, the Society runs courses, special lectures and professional programmes on a periodic basis, with practice-oriented education linked to industry.

We conduct research and make policy proposals on the safety, performance and urban planning of tall buildings and on improving related laws and systems, cooperating with government and local authorities.

The Society expands cooperation with universities, research institutes, professional societies and industry at home and abroad, building an international academic network through exchange with leading architectural organisations.
