Researching the height and depth of cities

Welcome. Thank you for visiting the website of The Society of Vertical City and Architecture.

Our Society began with the founding assembly of the Korean Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat in 2008 and was formally incorporated in 2011. Since then we have accumulated knowledge in tall building design through conferences at home and abroad, our international journal and industry-academia cooperation. In 2026 we changed our name to The Society of Vertical City and Architecture, widening our scope to vertical urbanism as a whole.

Cities now grow not by spreading outward but by being reorganised in three dimensions. Beyond competing for height, safety, performance, public value and sustainability must be secured together within vertical space. The Society will host open discussion among industry, academia, research institutes and government, and act as a bridge so that research reaches policy and practice.

We will further strengthen international exchange centred on the International Journal of High-Rise Buildings (IJHRB) and the China-Japan-Korea Tall Building Forum. Your interest and participation are our greatest asset. We ask for your continued support.
