Website terms of use

These terms define the rights, duties and responsibilities of the Society and users in relation to the website and its services.

1. "Website" means the site operated by the Society to provide information and member services.
2. "User" means anyone who accesses the website and uses its information.
3. "Member" means a person who has joined under the Charter and holds a website account.

These terms take effect when posted on the website. The Society may amend them within the limits of applicable law; amended terms apply from the date they are posted.

Membership is completed upon approval following the admission procedure under Article 7 of the Charter. Member categories and eligibility follow Articles 5 and 6; fees, suspension and loss of membership follow Articles 8, 11 and 12.

Members are responsible for managing their account and password and may not let a third party use them. If misuse is suspected, notify the secretariat immediately.

The Society provides academic information, event notices, a library and journal access through the website. Services may be suspended in whole or in part for maintenance, replacement of facilities, communication failures, natural disasters or other unavoidable reasons.

Member-only content such as the library and the tall building database may be used only for the member's own academic or professional purposes, and may not be reproduced, distributed or sold without prior consent.

Copyright in posted content belongs to the poster. The following may be removed without prior notice.
1. Content that defames or infringes the rights of others
2. Content that violates the law or public order and morals
3. Advertising or promotional content unrelated to the Society's purpose

The Society protects users' personal data under applicable law. Details are set out in the Privacy Policy.

1. Fees for academic events hosted by the Society ("event fees") may be paid on the website by credit card through our payment service providers (PortOne and NICE Payments). Registration is confirmed when payment is completed.
2. The fee and the payment period are shown on each event page.
3. A full refund is given if requested to the secretariat no later than 7 days before the event start date (for example, by 16 October for an event on 23 October). No refund is given after that point.
4. If the Society cancels the event or changes its schedule so that you can no longer attend, the fee is refunded in full regardless of timing.
5. Refunds are made by cancelling the card payment; depending on the card company, it may take 3 to 7 business days to appear.

7. Membership fees of the Society (annual and lifetime fees; "membership fees") may be paid by a logged-in member by credit card on the membership fee page of the website through our payment service providers (PortOne and NICE Payments; Eximbay for cards issued outside Korea). Payment of the fee is confirmed when the payment is completed.
8. The fee for each membership type is shown in Korean won on the membership fee page. Payments with cards issued outside Korea are charged in US dollars (USD), converted at the exchange rate at the time of payment (such as the European Central Bank reference rate); if the converted amount exceeds the per-payment limit for overseas cards, please arrange payment with the secretariat.
9. Membership fees are refunded in full if requested to the secretariat within 7 days of the payment date. Refunds are made in the currency and amount paid (for overseas cards, the US dollar amount charged). After 7 days from the payment date, fees are not refunded, in accordance with Article 8 of the Society's Articles of Incorporation.
10. Paragraphs 5 and 6 apply to how membership fees are refunded and where to send enquiries.

The Society is not liable for information posted by users or for the content of externally linked sites.
